FIVE STARS 94/100 | Sam Kim, Wine Orbit
94/100 'Excellent' | Cameron Douglas MS
92/100 | Bob Campbell MW, The Real Review
Another outstanding release from the powerhouse Ata Rangi team. Crimson is Ata Rangi's entry-level pinot and it consistently over-delivers. Previous vintages have been rolling in five star reviews and the 2022 is sure to follow suit.
The proceeds from the Ata Rangi Crimson Pinot Noir help to conserve New Zealand native Rata and Pohutukawa through Project Crimson. So drink knowing you are doing your bit to ensure the iconic kiwi christmas tree is going to be around for future generations.

The winery writes "The 2022 is a wonderfully red fruited and aromatic Pinot Noir. Spice notes of cardamom and ginger combine with rosehip and pomegranate. A savoury note reminiscent of manuka smoke and prosciutto mingle enticingly with the red fruits. The palate has an array of flavours ranging from raspberry compote to rhubarb and orange zest. Smooth and supple on the entry, fine tannins are buoy by freshness to a long-sustained finish. Mid ruby in colour, with an almost transparent hue, the 2022 is charming and fresh, while remaining supple and delicious. Drink now to 2030."
Sam Kim, Wine Orbit writes "Stylish and poised, the wine shows sweet cherry, floral, subtle spice and dried mushroom aromas on the nose, followed by a finely flowing palate displaying excellent weight and silky texture. Beautifully framed by layers of polished tannins, making it delightfully harmonious and refined with a lengthy succulent finish."
Cameron Douglas MS writes "Ripe, pure, vibrant, varietal, complex and and new. Aromas of dark plums and cherries, layers of savoury spices, barrel spices and a mix of red flowers including roses. A lovely bouquet with a youthful energy and power. On the palate an equally vibrant wine touches first with tannins and acidity making their presence known, then a core of dark red berry fruits and savoury baking spice qualities take over. Tannins are in abundance, are firm-ish and acidity all set the structure in place."
