GOLD MEDAL | Mundus Vini 2024
GOLD MEDAL & 95/100 | NWWA 2023
91/100 'Premium' | Cameron Douglas MS
17.5/20 | Joelle Thomson
Fresh and vibrant Marlborough wine with the spotlight firmly in those plush Chardonnay fruits. Good mid-palate drive and some lees derived texture brings some generosity to the party but this is a wine for those who prefer their Chardonnay on the mid-weight side of the street.

Joelle Thomson writes "The Giesen brothers may have begun winemaking in North Canterbury, but their move to Marlborough has benfited their brand and their diversity of wines, which includes deliciously good value examples such as this full-bodied Chardonnay. It's made from an extensive vineyard, which the company acquired from Ara. A complex, deliciously bold but balanced Chardonnay that sings with bright acidity, which adds length and zesty flavours."
Cameron Douglas MS writes "Aromas of fresh white and yellow peaches, apple and a touch of quince. The use of barrel suggests a lighter toasty wood layer with vanilla and a lighter raw sugar scent. A satin touch on the palate then flavours of white fleshed stone fruits, red and green apple and citrus. Fleshy textures are contrasted by acidity and wood. Balanced and well made with a decent finish and length."
The winery writes "A traditional style Chardonnay showing rich, generous fruit with a creamy character and clean lees complexity. Enticing toasty lees flavour with a oatmeal influence. Mid-palate texture is supported by a focused, persistant finish."
