Alpha Domus has a well won reputation for crafting fine Hawke's Bay wines and this excellent release from their 'Collection' series is a study in affordable quality. This Collection Merlot Cabernet is the classic sub$20 Hawkes Bay red. A big ripe juicy merlot cabernet that has that all important drinkability factor in spades. This is a fleshy wine with really forward fruit flavours, soft tannins and lovely round mouthfeel.

Vinted from 44% merlot, 26% cabernet franc, 16% malbec, 14% cabernet sauvignon.
The winery writes "An appealing well balanced Hawke's Bay blend with a classic bouquet. At blending fruit forward batches and some darker spicier barrels were selected to give excellent drinkability. A finely textured and generous red with a satisfying depth of flavour that flows through to a lingering savoury finish. Perfect with your pizza nights, full flavoured dishes and red meat."
