The Solera is a beloved favorite of Starward's founder and the brand's inaugural whisky release.\u003c\/p\u003e\n \u003cp\u003eThe traditional method used by the Spanish to age their Sherry and maintain consistency is known as Solera. This process involves blending a fractional amount of young cask with more mature spirit. As a result, each bottle produced today contains a touch of the first ever cask.\u003c\/p\u003e\n \u003cp\u003eUsing this as inspiration, Starward turned to Apera barrels, an Aussie fortified wine similar to Sherry, that have typically held spirit over decades, resulting in some seriously flavourful oak. \u003c\/p\u003e\n \u003cp\u003eEvery ingredient in Starward's Solera Whisky is sourced from within a day's drive away of the distillery. Starting with a grain like Australian malted barley made complete sense, and then fermenting that with brewers' yeast gave a bold, craft flavour that is what Starward is now so well known for.
